Anniversary Weekend

We had the most wonderful anniversary weekend! We started out Friday night helping set up and clean up for Jay and Laura's rehearsal dinner at Providence. It was such a blessing to be able to serve them in such a tangible way. So many people did so much to serve us during our wedding season and I considered it a great privilege to be able to do the same for someone else. Saturday we celebrated their wedding, and it was a special treat for us because they held their reception at the same place we had, and had the same DJ as well! So, we got to "re-live" our wedding just a bit and have a fun night with friends. Here are a few pictures from Saturday evening. Sorry, it was a little dark in there so the lighting for my pictures is pretty bad!

Then on Sunday we had such a sweet morning at church. Pastor Horner was finishing up a 3-week series on relationships called "Different by Design, Rescued by Grace." Yep, it was about biblical manhood, biblical womanhood, and then yesterday how to live together in marriage! What a perfect anniversary sermon! We enjoyed a chili lunch at Jason's parent's house, where we received some sweet gifts. My parents had blessed us on Friday night after the rehearsal dinner with amazing gifts as well, so we were overwhelmed!

Later last night we went to Winston's for dinner, which is significant because that's where Jason took my parents to ask them for permission to marry me. It was awesome and we've got great leftovers! We came home and got out our little wedding cake top and it was DELICIOUS! We only ate a few bites because we were so full, but I'm planning on eating a big piece tonight!
Then we exchanged gifts, and I'm so thrilled because Jason's taking me to see West Side Story later this week! I gave Jason a framed print of our wedding vows. I've got the image below so you can see, but I was inspired months ago that we need to be reminding ourselves often of what we promised each other on October 18, 2008. It's the most important promise you can make to another human being, to commit to the covenant of marriage, but we usually don't even remember what we said! So, now we have no excuse not to keep our promise - all of it!

We're so grateful that the Lord has called us to marriage with each other. Thank you Lord for Your beautiful design to make us more like You and show You to the world! Help us walk worthy of the calling to which we've been called.
