Washington D.C.

We spent last weekend and a couple days earlier this week in Washington D.C. and had a great time! We stayed pretty busy and now we need a vacation from our vacation! :-) We got the chance to meet up with Jenise, Brad and Davis on Saturday night for dinner at a fun place downtown.

Later that night the rain cleared up so we decided to walk around the monuments since we'd not seen them lit up at night, so here we are at the Lincoln memorial and World War II memorial.

We headed toward the Washington monument and of course the rain started to pour! We had a long, wet run back to the car but it was a pretty funny start to our trip!

Sunday we visited the National Zoo, Air&Space museum and Natural History museum. Whew! Our legs were tired at the end of the day!

I had to take a picture of this very disturbing exhibit. Really the whole exhibit was called something like "Meet Our Ancestors: Human Origins" but it was wild and not true! :-)

That night we headed out to National Harbor for dinner...

and Monday morning we got our spy on at the Spy Museum...

Clowning around at the Capitol...

Monday night we went out to Georgetown for dinner...we ate at Cafe Milano which was probably much nicer than we should have chosen, but it was vacation so oh well!

The bummer was that our waiter took FOREVER to bring us our bill, so it turned out to be a REALLY nice dinner once we tacked on the parking ticket ! :-)

Tuesday morning we went out to Arlington Cemetery before leaving town. We visited Grandpa's grave and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, which is always very moving.

All in all it was a great trip, though I think we'll plan our next vacation to just sit on the beach somewhere and rest our feet! ;-)
