Black Mountain and Biltmore

We had such a great time last weekend celebrating our anniversary in the mountains! We started out with a round of golf at Bald Mountain on Lake Lure (yes, they filmed Dirty Dancing here - amazing!). It was overcast but the colors were still beautiful. It was a great way to start out the weekend!

This picture is blurry, but if you look close, you can see Jason's ball that he hit off the tee box right next to the hole, which he followed up with a birdie putt! (okay, the funniest part of this sentence is me using golf lingo to describe this picture!) Way to go Jason!

Beautiful!

Okay, here's Jason teeing off on the hole where they filmed a scene from Dirty Dancing...

I have proof!

This is the scene where Baby runs up to her dad while he's putting and asks him for money. Now I'm curious what it looks like in the movie! Umm...movie night?!

Okay, on to the real adventure...The Friendship Lodge! We stayed in a little bed and breakfast, which had the sweetest owners, but not all the amenities of some places. We didn't care though! We paid half the price, got a free breakfast, and have way funnier memories from staying here! Like Sammy the Spider in the shower, no central heating, and basically the feeling of coming home to grandma's house to stay!

Here we are with the owners, Bob and Sarah. They're probably heading down to Florida about now, to spend the cold months (remember, no heat) enjoying the Florida sun! They'll be back next June!
Saturday we visited the Biltmore, which was really amazing. They don't allow photographs inside so I only have a few pictures. Here we are off the back porch of the Biltmore.-
This is down on Riverbend Farm, the working farm where the Vanderbilt family raised animals and food to feed all their servants, family, and guests.

Well, what a great weekend! Can't wait for the next trip!
