Here are some highlights from our last official vacation before Baby Redmond comes. We headed to Roanoke Island for several days and had a blast!
We went to the Lost Colony show the first night we were there. We were paranoid about rain but turned out to be a beautiful night!
Here we are heading up to Jockey's Ridge
And here's the view from the top - pretty spectacular
One of my favorite things was seeing the field where the Wright Brothers had their first flight! They weren't very long! The longest flight that day was from about where I'm taking the picture to the stone marker just before the line of trees in the distance.
Here we are at Bodie Lighthouse - we decided to go check it out on our way home from the Wright Brothers. Turns out their renovating it but we got there just in time to hear Ranger Bernie give a riveting talk on the lighthouse and the shipwrecks off the Outer Banks. I actually thought it was kind of interesting but I had to give Jason the highlights later b/c it turns out Jason was asleep behind his shades. We don't think Boring Bernie noticed though :-).
Big Girl pulling a kayak
Big Girl paddling a kayak
If you look close, you can see Jockey's Ridge way in the distance - pretty cool view from the shore where we were staying!
Dinner by the Sound
Breakfast by the waterfront - Big Girl ate more food than Jason
Putt-Putt is a must for a Redmond vacation!
Jason dug for sharks teeth at the aquarium. At first we weren't finding any but when Jason overheard a 6-year old nearby say she found 2 it was on - we walked away with 9 ;-).
We're thankful for such a great trip!
