Okay, so I know, I'm HORRIBLE about keeping up with this blog!!! All I can say is I'll try to do better but no promises! I was getting overwhelmed by trying to catch up with all the things going on since I last updated before Christmas and I decided to follow my sister's plan and just give a quick overview and start from here!
Christmas was awesome - spent time with Jason's family in Burgaw and drove out of town during the beautiful snow storm only to see green grass once we hit I-40 all the way to the beach! We spent the week in Garden City, SC with my family which is always so fabulous since we don't get to see them as much as we'd love to!
I was somewhat dreading coming back to work for what someone had rightly named "D-Day" at Providence. Our staff went through a heartbreaking season of having to layoff several staff members because of budgetary constraints and stream-lining in some of our ministries. It was a hard few months leading up to it and after, but God has been so faithful to each person affected and to the rest of us who miss them being here working with us. It's a strange sort of feeling - being sad to see things changing and also excited in anticipating what the Lord has in store for Providence. He is moving in so many ways here - there's a renewed passion for prayer, a stronger sense of being engaged with our church and with our city, and you can just feel the Spirit in a different way around here it seems. When the Enemy is at work, you know God is up to something big too! :-)
So, as for me and Jason, we're counting down the days until he mails in "the box". He's in the final week of working on his National Board Certification. He's ready to be done, and I'm ready too! :-) But just a few days to go and we can be normal people again! Pray for us as we put the finishing touches on everything (notice I said "we" - he appointed me his editor in chief!). We should be mailing it next Monday or Tuesday!
Okay, last thing - I'm working on getting back into reading so I'll be keeping a list running of all the books I've read so far. Ya'll hold me accountable if you see the same book up there under "current" for more than a month! I'll let you know if there's anything I don't recommend, but chances are I'll stop reading it if it's not good, so figure anything on my list has my stamp of approval!
Okay, off I go, and hopefully I won't stay gone so long this time!
