A Little Creativity

Okay, so notice that my post title says "a little" creativity. I always want to be creative, but I usually have to settle for copying someone else's ideas! That said, I was so inspired last weekend at our church's Holidays Fit for the King event. We have breakfast and attend workshops about a variety of topics like Holidays on a Budget, Handmade Christmas Cards, etc. Well, I went to a workshop on decorating and the girl leading it had all these great ideas based on two themes: 1) Use stuff you already own and 2) Use stuff God gives you in nature. For example, she made all kinds of fun things out of magnolia leaves and branches that she found on the side of the road for fall decorating.

Well, it hit me all of a sudden, we have a magnolia tree in our yard! I came straight home and started ripping branches off! Then I went around the side of our house we never go on and found that the trees lining our house are covered in these orange-reddish berries! It was like hitting the jackpot! Jason didn't mind me ripping apart the yard because it meant he could watch his football game in peace! ;)

All you truly creative people are probably laughing at me right now, and it's like a kindergartener being proud of her drawing, but I'm still proud all the same. Here's my feeble attempts at free fall decorating!

  1. so pretty Becca! I know you are a proud woman. Was Kim the one who led your workshop with her mom and mother-in-law? If so she is in YM1 and can give you more and more tips :) By the way...love the photo with Jason propping his feet up watching the game while you are enjoying your beautiful artwork.
